Electrical
Electrical work order template
The customer copy should identify the device and the circuit. It should not read like a set of instructions for someone else to work live.
Identify the device and the circuit
Write the room and the device in the service title: “Kitchen receptacle on the east wall.” In equipment, record the panel manufacturer and any breaker or circuit label you relied on. If the panel schedule was blank, say that you labeled the breaker and what you wrote on it.
JobSheet is a record of the visit. It does not tell you how to de-energize equipment, size a conductor, or decide whether a permit is required. Follow your license, your local rules, and your own procedure. If a permit or inspection is part of the job, note the status in recommendations so the customer knows what is still open.
What the customer should see
- The symptom they reported, separate from your finding.
- The device you replaced or repaired, with a part description they can match to the invoice.
- A photo of the device location and, if useful, the breaker label. Skip photos that only show an open energized panel.
- Anything you could not finish, including access, parts on order, or an inspection date.
Keep shop notes off the PDF
Use internal notes for the things the customer copy should not carry: a dog’s name, an alarm code, or a reminder to order a specialty device. Those notes remain in the browser draft and are omitted from the preview and the PDF.
